My sister’s getting her first apartment that is all hers, so that means I get to help pick out furniture and furnishings! I am beyond excited to help, and just hope that I can contain my overbearing-ness to actually be helpful to her. 🙁
This week I took it upon myself to create some vision boards for her apartment. I know that she loves blues and grays and enjoys the wood elements of farmhouse design with some modern touches. The best part though is that it’s on her dime!
In all seriousness though, this project will definitely be budget-conscious. My sister is a young professional with student loans who is excited to have her own space to come home to at the end of the day. Her space should reflect her personality and it shouldn’t break the budget doing so.
This vision board is of the bedroom. My sister has kindly asked me to make her a bed frame and I agreed. She gets a quality wood frame for a really great price (~$120). Refurbishing is not out of the question either, so if we happen to find some good quality pieces that need some TLC (sanding, painting, or staining) for a good price, it’s fair game!
The bedside table and dresser are more mid-century modern and I included two different styles because I like both for different reasons. I like that the white in both keep the design “fresh” and modern; however, the bedside table offers more color and “bling” with the drawers and hardware and the dresser ties in more natural wood elements. I think she will like both for different reasons as well so I’m anxious to see which she likes more. The dresser and the bedside table are the perfect furniture pieces to be able to refinish (if we can find a good deal on quality pieces) as we can be creative and refinish them to compliment each other.
Below I’ve included the links to each product:
Next up is the patio! Because I absolutely love a great outdoor space!
