This is week 11 and as usual, my post is late! This week our focus is on the linen closet! If you have quite a small collection of linens, this will be easy for you! You may even have time to play catch-up or give some extra TLC to other rooms that we’ve refreshed so far!
Linen Closet
- Remove everything from the linen closet
- Set up your “piles” – “keep”, “donate”, “sell”, “discard”, & “remove”
- Sort everything from your closet into your piles
- Questions to consider when editing:
- Do I need it?
- Do I have duplicates?
- How worn/old is it?
- Does it still function?
- Do I still use it?
- What is the worst thing that could happen if I were to get rid of it?
- Give the closet or space a good cleaning. Wipe down shelves, clean out cobwebs, and clean floor.
- Categorize your “keep” pile. Some categories to think about include:
- twin, full, queen, king size sheets
- winter bedding
- quilts
- pillows
- pillowcases
- curtains
- air mattresses
- heating blankets
- decorative items like throw pillows, vases, etc.
- Take everything from your “remove” pile and put those items back in their proper place
- Dump your “discard” pile
- List any items your planned to sell
- Take your “donate” pile to the donation of your choosing. If there is anything that you stored last month that is still in storage, now is the time to donate it as well.
The Sweep
Continue your pickup and cleaning routine each night before bed! Put away anything from the rooms you’ve refreshed that is out of place. Give the room a spot clean. If you find that some of your systems aren’t working, make minor tweaks and continue to evaluate each night you do your sweep! Don’t forget that this shouldn’t take long and your family is there to help you!
