I’ve been very much clinging to the warm days of summer. I love the warm weather and all of the sunshine, however I’ve noticed over the past few days the sun setting earlier. It has also been more chilly in the mornings and evenings. 🙁 While the leaves are still currently clinging to their branches, I know soon they will start to change and fall as we head into another season. While I don’t like what follows fall, some of the things I love about fall are the chunky blankets, warm cappuccino (even though I love this year round!), cuddling on the couch, and spiced apple cider. 🙂
A little over a year ago we were dining with some good friends of ours the night before their wedding at an eatery that was adjacent to the hotel we were staying in. We were having an amazing time and the night was young. It was a pre-celebratory gathering to celebrate two amazing people before the whirlwind wedding day. While I don’t drink often, I decided to order an alcoholic beverage to go with my meal. Usually, the hubs and I stick to water when we go out, as I would hate to pay for an expensive alcoholic beverage that I didn’t end up liking. However, it was a night to splurge! I ended up deciding to order the restaurant’s apple cider sangria…and boy was it delicious! So delicious in fact that I felt the need to replicate the recipe and have a Thanksgiving signature drink!
I didn’t hesitate when the days started getting shorter and the temperature started dropping to dig this recipe out and kick off fall the right way!
Recipe
1 bottle (750 mL) of Pinot Grigio
4 cups apple cider
1 cup of Jim Beam’s apple bourbon
apples, sliced or chopped
2 cups ginger ale
Dig out your beverage dispenser. Pour all ingredients into dispenser. Mix well and serve! If you don’t plan on serving right away, hold off on the ginger ale to prevent the beverage from going flat.
